Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Are you having bed bug problems and want to find some way to get rid of bed bugs? Beg bugs are once again becoming a nuisance. At one point in time bed bugs were just about wiped out in the U.S. Back in those days, strong pesticides such as DDT were used to wipe out these critters. However, these days pesticides such as DDT have been banned which has resulted in bed bugs making a resurgence. Also since more people are traveling between different countries, bed bugs are spread even more. Bed bugs reside in hotels across the U.S. and are carried by travelers’ luggage. Bed bugs can hide just about anywhere so it’s very easy for them to get transported around unknowingly.

Bed bugs usually hide in the mattress, box spring, or sheets. They hide anywhere that’s close to their food source. Since they can hide just about anywhere, getting rid of bed bugs can be extremely difficult if you don’t know where to look. They come out at night and feed on their host before going back to hiding. When they feed on you, they also inject an enzyme so that you won’t feel the bite. Only after the bed bug is gone and the enzyme wears off will you feel irritation. Although they are not particularly dangerous, it can be very annoying to get bed bug bites since they feed every few days.

In order to get rid of bed bugs, you have to know what you are doing and understand these pests. Bed bugs can live up to 6 months without feeding. So your plan of moving out of your residence for a few days to starve the bed bugs won’t work. Bed bugs not only live in your mattress, but they can hide in furniture, cracks in the wall, and any other crevice you can think of.

One way you can get rid of bed bugs is by using a mattress encasement. Mattress encasements are huge pieces of plastic bags that can be used to completely enclose your mattress inside. The point of doing this is to trap the bed bugs inside the mattress encasement and hopefully starve them to death. Since bed bugs live up to six months, you can expect to use that mattress encasement for just as long in order to get rid of bed bugs.

If you want to get rid of bed bugs then you have to do an exhaustive search. Bed bugs hide in every little spot you can imagine so it’s best to check everywhere. You can be sure that they will hide somewhere close to where you sleep though. If you don’t feel that you can find and get rid of the bed bugs by yourself, then go ahead and contact the exterminator. They have experience in finding those critters and have the necessary pesticides to get rid of bed bugs.
